10th – 14th August 2026
Somewhere in Zimbabwe, a team of rangers just did 420 push-ups in two minutes.
Teams of four compete to complete the highest number of full push-ups in two minutes, with the totals aggregated across all four members. Over 90 teams across Africa took it on. Gonarezhou Conservation Trust topped the men’s category with 420, won the women’s category with 182, and Frankfurt Zoological Society in Zambia claimed the mixed category with 239.
The Pushup Challenge is one of a series of physical tests building toward Race Day on 19 September, when thousands of rangers will run a 21km race carrying up to 22kg of kit. These challenges reflect what the job demands: strength, endurance, and showing up day after day.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and particularly to our Top 3 Ranger Pushup Teams.
